Queensland police are investigating whether faulty brakes were responsible for a bus crash on the Gold Coast which injured all 24 occupants.
The bus, with 22 tourists on board, landed on its side after sliding down an embankment as it attempted to navigate a tight corner on Tamborine-Oxenford Road near Coomera just before 3pm (AEST) on Friday.
Four ambulances were called to the scene and 11 passengers were transported to hospital.
One woman was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition with pelvic fractures and possible spinal injuries.
Others were transported to the Gold Coast Hospital with cuts, bruises and neck pain while the driver suffered minor head and shoulder injuries.
Two occupants were temporarily trapped inside the bus but were freed by Emergency Services.
The remainder of the occupants escaped with minor cuts and bruises.
A Gold Coast Hospital spokesman said the hospital was placed on alert and day staff were requested to stay late to deal with a potentially large number of injuries following the crash.
However, the staff were released after ambulance officers informed the hospital there would only be a small number of patients to be treated for minor injuries.
A Police spokeswoman said Heavy Transport Inspectors from Queensland Transport would inspect the bus to determine whether reports of brake failure were correct.
