这里是奶爸进击之旅——英语屋的第八期更新。
周三那天不知道怎么回事，明明应该要写英语屋的，却写成了向往的N2了，闹了一个小乌龙。
不过好像没有任何人发现这个问题，也就无关紧要了，相互替换一下，下次再换回来就好了。

本期（2021年04月01日—2021年04月07日）英语屋总结如下：
一、地道口语表达：（蓝色字体为学习的内容，括号内容是我自己写的翻译）
1、be washed up：（not good any more）
2、fall flat：（something is very disappointed）
3、a Sunday driver：（a person who drives pretty slowly or unskillfully）
4、swerve：（when you are driving, suddenly changes direction, that mean that you swerve. it usually describe the driver want to avoid something）
5、nip it in the bud：（to stop it at an early stage, before it can become worse）
6、First world problems：（if something is First world problem, that means the problem is not really important.）
7、retrospective： （looking someone in his past, then find the reason why he developed or became a great man）
8、cut in line：（cut into the middle of the line）
9、save my spot：（if you are in the line, then you want to go to bathroom, you can say that to the person in front of you or back of you）
10、be thick-skinned：（not easy hurt by insult）
11、nerd or geek：（nerd and geek are a little different, you can google it）
12、a sticky-situation：（a though or sensitive situation）
13、no pun intended：（It means that they did not mean to make a pun（A pun is a clever and amusing use of a word or phrase with two meanings） but they did.）
14、get through something：（make it）
15、tide someone over：（give someone something really useful——like money or food etc——to help him survive or get through tough situation）
16、freebie/freebies：（buy something then give you something for free）
17、the tide has turned for/against：（in you favor or hold you back）
18、water something down.：（put some water into some drink like alcohol）
19、put a smile on one's face：（make someone happy）
20、a perfect mix of A and B：（something is great having A and B's advantage）
21、a solid background in：（pretty good at it）

二、看美剧学英语——How I Met Your Mother：
为了让自己多练习精听、精看，以后英语屋第二部分每期放5分钟《How I Met Your Mother》，然后总结一下其中的单词和词组用法，帮助各位边看剧，边学英语。
同时，也让自己更加积极主动地去学习，不然，总是会找理由去拖延精学美剧的练习。
《How I Met Your Mother》是个人非常喜欢的一部情境喜剧，是一部关于主角Ted寻找真爱的喜剧，其最特别之处就是以Ted向自己未来的孩子口述自己如何遇见老妈的故事。
不过，到底谁是老妈？一直是贯彻全剧的最大悬念。
你一定会爱上这部可爱又精彩的喜剧。

2、Blazer：
A blazer is a kind of jacket which is often worn by members of a particular group, especially schoolchildren and members of a sports team.
3、Before long：
If you say that something will happen or happened before long, you mean that it will happen or happened soon.
4、Bachelor：
A bachelor is a man who has never married.
5、Urinal：
A urinal is a bowl fixed to the wall of a men's public toilet for men to urinate in.
6、Goatee：
A goatee is a very short pointed beard that covers a man's chin but not his cheeks.
7、Go with：
If one thing goes with another thing, the two things officially belong together, so that if you get one, you also get the other.
8、Exhibit：
An exhibit is a painting, sculpture, or object of interest that is displayed to the public in a museum or art gallery.
9、Finger-painting：
the process or art of painting with finger paints of starch, glycerine, and pigments, using the fingers, hand, or arm.
10、Get to second base：
to touch a partner under his or her clothes, but not have sex.
11、Think on your feet：
to make good decisions and achieve things without having to think about them or plan them first.
12、Vows：
a particular set of serious promises, such as the promises two people make when they are getting married.
13、Slip out：
If a remark slips out, you say it without intending to.
这里面主要记录的是自己当时精听、精看时候不会的单词和俚语，如果你在观看视频的过程中，还有其他单词不会，也可以自行积累。
主动学习，比起被动学习更加有效率。
