Wow, you guys look great, so today we are going to learn a new lesson before we start, I will show you some pictures. look at the screen, what can you see from the pictures? Yes, Anna you please. Yes, the first one is a famous basketball player, Yao Ming. And the second one is a well-known ping-pong ball player, Deng Yaping. Very good, Sit down, please.  You're so knowledgeable in sports. And here is a question for you. If you play basketball against the Yao Ming. Can you win the game? Of course, it's nearly impossible for you to win. But what would you do, just give up or spare no effort to take a try? Okay, so this is our today's topic, the underdog.

Please open your book and turn to page 30. Please pay attention to the title and the pictures. Do you know what the underdog means? Any volunteers? Yes,Alice, you please. Yes, the underdog means an athlete who seems to have little chance to win. And how about the pictures, what can you know from these pictures? Yes, you can see there are some people who are playing basketball. And Paul is one of them. So can you make predictions about the content of the passage? Yes, it might talk about a basketball game. Very good prediction. So you can write down your predictions on the paper. Then we will check it together.

①Extensive-reading:Now please read the passage quickly to check your predictions and get the main idea of the passage. Are you clear? Now let's begin. Time's up, let's stop here. Any volunteers? Yes, Alice you please. Right, the passage can be divided into two parts. Part one mainly introduces us the background information. Part two mainly tells us the process of the basketball game.Very good, sit down, please.

②Intensive-reading: Now please read part two carefully to get the details and try to finish the task in Activity five. Put the following events in the right order.  Are you clear ? okay now, let's begin. time's up. Let's stop here. Any volunteers to take a try? Yes, Peter you please. Yes, the first one is one player got hurt and could not play. The second one is give him a shot coach. The third one is let me try, coach, I won't let you down. The fourth one is Paul, jumped and rushed onto the court. The last one is the team had won by two points. Very good, sit down, please. And how about the coach's attitude? Any volunteers? Yes, Lilian you please. Very good. At first the coach is worried because one player got hurt. But  the coach is negative towards Paul. And when the players insists to let Paul play, the coach is hesitant. But when he decided let Paul play, he is hopeful. Finally when Paul  helped the team win the game, he is proud and excited.

Now as we already know the main ideas and details. Here is one more question for you to discuss. What do you think of Paul? And what can you learn from him? I will divide you into groups of 4.Group A, group B, group C and group d. Are you clear? Okay, now let's begin. Times up. Let's stop here. Any volunteer could to share ideas.
