作者简介：Jeff Kinney，生于1971年，毕业于美国马里兰州立大学，取得computer science/criminal justice双学位。大学时期，即在校园报纸《Diamondback》以漫画专栏“Igdoof”初试啼声，而后获得《华盛顿邮报》和《巴尔的摩太阳报》的介绍。《小屁孩日记》是他第一部正式出版的作品，刚上市即跃居全美畅销书排行榜，并创下240万本的销售佳绩。本书售出25种语言的国际版权，已经由美国福斯电影公司（Fox 2000）买下版权，并被拍摄成电影。尽管因《小屁孩日记》一夕成名，Jeff仍维持原来的生活状态，身兼网络出版公司的设计总监、计算机工程师及全职爸爸数职，与太太Julie和两个儿子Will和Grant住在麻州南部。
内容：本书讲述的是一个半大小子秘密的成长糗事。步入初中的他“时而天真、时而叛逆、时而顽皮、时而无奈”。作者所运用的语言十分生活化并贴近那个年龄段的孩子，而那些热闹的漫画则与格雷的波澜不惊、近乎无表情、幽默的叙述形成着鲜明对比，让人觉得格雷这个人物呼之欲出。
感触：我是中英文版对照着看的，中文版很酣畅，一小时读完，简单的画风和俏皮的文字很带感。而后一整个晚上读完了英文版，感觉英语尤其是实用英得到了很大的提升。危机四伏的度假村这本书很适合要出行的人来阅读，感觉酒店用语会学到很多。下面就是个人英语的学习摘录和自我补充。
