Google has released its linux version for "Google Earth"

Google has released its linux version "Google Earth". It 's absolutely a good new for those people, who don't have a large hard disk, a large memory, perhaps a fast processor either. So I am also one of this group, who benefit from this new version.

The linux machine at MPI is super “fast”er than my thinkpad. Because the program always crashed down on my laptop, so I've even already uninstalled it long time ago.

I have just downloaded the new release. During the installation, the user authority to the executable file is the biggest problem. I have googled a very nice tutorial of the command “chmod”. Detailed explanation plus some typical examples. Well, strongly recommended: http://catcode.com/teachmod/index.html

But actually most of the users do not need to check this, since you are the roots of your machines.

Now you can do whatever you want with Google Earth. Find the locations which you are interested in; load some available funny KML files; check the length of you flight ... whatever you want before your machine says no.
