Survey for GIS map of city begins

Indore, Aug 18: Indore Municipal Corporation will carry out geographical survey of all its 61 wards. The survey work will be kicked off by Indore Mayor Umashashi Sharma at 11.30 am on Saturday.

Indore is among the few cities of the country where GIS technology is being implemented wherein all the available infrastructure of the city its property, roads, water, sewage lines, main holes etc. can be identified separately on the map.

For this purpose DGPS survey will be carried out at as many as 42 places in the city. Corporation sources informed that the city will soon have computerized geographical map which will be based on GIS technology.. Presently, the survey work will be started in ward No. 61. Mrs Ispect System Private Limited has been given contract for carrying out survey in this ward.

Ward corporator and the member of Mayor-in-council, Anil Bindal informed that all the necessary preparations have been made to star field survey of this ward from Saturday. The survey work will be kicked off by mayor Umashashi Sharma at Gulmarg complex on Sapna Sangeeta road tomorrow at 11.30 am. Local MLA Mahendra Hardia will also remain present on the occasion.

After completion of survey work in ward No. 61, the GIS map of remaining 68 wards will also be prepared and the same will be connected with software which will enable the city people to have a geographical look of physical infrastructure in their respective localities.
