ZTE Unveils World's First WiMAX Mobile Video Surveillance Terminal

asy to install WiMAX device ideal for deployment in strategic public areas

08 January 2009, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions officially announced today its latest Mi100 device, the world’s first WiMAX Mobile Video Surveillance Terminal. The new device is the result of ZTE’s relentless R&D efforts and expertise in developing state-of-the-art WiMAX equipment and solutions.

Integrated with highly advanced WiMAX 16e chipset, the Mi100 smoothly enables automatic access and connection to WiMAX wireless network. It supports high-speed mobile remote surveillance of up to a maximum speed of 100km/h. With a compact and portable size of only 115x62x50mm, the Mi100 terminal is easy to install and does not require additional modulated decoder compared with traditional mobile video surveillance terminals. It can also be deployed in public areas such as airports, highways, hospitals and railways, facilitating mass WiMAX applications in transportation, utilities, irrigation works, oil fields, as well as government departments.

“We are proud to lead the telecom industry in offering the world’s first compact WiMAX mobile video surveillance device, indeed another significant milestone in the WiMAX industry.  This year, we will continue to provide comprehensive and customized WiMAX solutions in order to fully meet the different needs of telecom carriers and further enhance users’ experience,” said Mr. Zhao Songpu, ZTE’s General Manager of WiMAX products. “The new Mi100 terminal is part of our wide range of customized WiMAX solutions with unique technical features and advantages including high bandwidth capacity, efficient wireless connection, multi-scenario deployment, easy operation and high reliability.”

ZTE is one of the few vendors in the world that pioneered research and development on WiMAX. It is also the only Chinese company with a representative in the 15-man Board of Directors in the WiMAX Forum, and with about a dozen of WiMAX R&D institutions located in different regions globally.

As of November 2008, ZTE has already deployed more than 30 WiMAX 16e networks across different regions and countries, including Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas region. In October 2008, the company received the Wave2 Qualification Certification from the WiMAX Forum, the first Chinese company to ever receive dual award for its network equipment and terminal products from the same organization.

ZTE has also forged partnerships with more than 120 operators worldwide to exchange insights and technical views on WiMAX 16e standards, network planning and construction, and other related industry developments.
