Idiom? The first time I heard this word my reaction is the word idiot because of they have similar pronunciation and also for my less vocabulary. Since I never heard and use it before but I'm familiar with idiot then I still think why my teacher is teaching me with Idioms? Is there something that I didn’t know then I repeat the word again and my teacher told me is about the local phrases just like people mountain people sea. Then I gradually understood… because the idiom may shorten the distance between the foreigners and local people and might give more chance to know the local culture. Just like us, we have humor and abbreviation and even the body language as crossing your fingers and send to your friends then the partner may know you are saying “good luck for him or her”. See, what interesting about idioms that I  also put myself in and couldn’t stop asking and to check with my teacher in today’s class. Nowadays, you may have heard “give me a five”? I always hear that and then I asked, why is give me five and not others? Why do we never say “well done, guys” or except high five is there any other words with the same meaning? and I want to learn and use it from now on. I’m an inquisitive person(a person who likes to ask questions) until I get all I want to know. Then practice with class associate what I learned before and try to find out the same logic etc. by this way we may learn a lot, like break a leg, high five have the same meaning with good luck. Then we can avoid using good luck twice in the same article or speech and also make others feel you are a good learner and also closed to the local culture. Then why we don’t do that. So my dears, when you hear something and you are still not familiar with them you should try your best to ask why and whether I can use other word or idiom to replace it because in this way it may help you improve your ability quicker and you may also enjoy it well.
