英语口语学习笔记 DAY9

Tips:学习任何东西都要注意场景。 如果一个表达你根本用不到就不要学它了,因为没有用。

说英文时每个单词都一定会用到舌头!没用到舌头一定有发音问题。

看英文的时候不要一个词一个词地看,至少要一个意群、一个句子放在一起理解。

跟读的时候可以放一遍原声几秒钟再跟读,以免自欺欺人;还有一个方法是回读,自己读完一遍之后再放一遍原声,看看一不一样;最后就是这句话要用起来,跟别人说也行,发票圈也行。

读的时候早知道你为什么会这么处理?要有自己的理由,再去听原声时要能听出来他这样读的理由。

走心地背过就跟真心爱过一样会留下痕迹,不是为了记住,而是为了内化成自己的东西。

对于英语口语中常见的固定搭配,它的整句话连读弱读重音语调要一并去记,做到脱口而出的程度。

Have butterfly in one's stomach: feel nervous.

Cut a deal: make an agreement (in business or politics)

Kiss of death: an action that cause failure or ruin.

Hit the roof:.get very angry, loose one's temper.

On the company's dime: when the company is paying.

Dwell on the past: focus too much on the past.

Play the field: date many people, usually while one is single.

Those days are over:that's the past, things are different now.

Let bygones be bygones: forgive and forget what happened in the past.

What a way to do sth: 做某事另辟蹊径。

Pop the question: propose marriage.

Wet blanket: sb who discourages ideas, sb who spoils the enthusiasm or fun of a group.

Put all our eggs in one basket: rely too much on one thing, put a lot at a risk by rely on one plan.

Spread oneself too thin: try to do too many projects at once, so that one doesn't give enough time to any of time.

Risk worth taking: worthwhile, a plan whose benefits are greater than the risks.

Go for it: proceed, pursue a certain goal (sometimes taking on risk to do so)

Right on the money: correct, sensible

Naysayer: sb who speaks against sth, sb who often has negative or contrary opinions.

Go along with it: agree to a plan

Have a change of heart: change one's mind. =come around=change one's tune.

Move full steam ahead on sth: proceed with maximum enthusiasm or energy.

Sign on the dotted line: agree formally to a plan or proposal.

Seal the deal: come to an agreement.

Drag sb to somewhere: bring sb somewhere they don't want to go.

Blessing in disguise: sth bad that ultimately results in sth very good, a bad event that unexpectedly turns out to be bring a positive result. 塞翁失马焉知非福

How so?: 怎么回事?类似的口语表达还有: where to?去哪儿? Says who? 谁说的。

Copy: rip off 抄袭=ape, clone, 名词形式ripoff。knockoff赝品

Get off your high horse: stop acting so arrogant or self-rightous

Keep up with: stay with, not fall behind

Get a leg up on: get an advantage over, get ahead of

There's a catch: catch is a difficulty that is not obvious, a hidden drawback, sth that makes an offer not as attractive as it first seems

Melt in your mouth: taste delicious, to be tender (especially for meat)

Pale in comparison: not be as good as, be inferior to 相形见绌,常用语写作。=pale in/into significance when compared with...

Play ball: cooperate, agree to do what sb asks, work together or achieve a common goal.

Brainchild: an idea resulting from someone's creative thinking, a great idea, an original idea.

补: poster boy/child典范,代表性人物

The ball's in your court: You need to do sth, it's your turn to do sth.
