New words:
·appositives - nouns,noun phrases,or noun clauses which give another name for the noun before them;
·gallery ------- a large building where people can see famous pieces of art;
·document -- a piece of paper that has official information on it.
Essential appositives: are important for the sentence.
My father Jason is 43 years old.
(‘Jason’ renames ‘father’)
I really like the new employee James.
(‘James’ renames ‘new employee’)
Nonessential appositives: are not important for the sentence and should be separated by commas.
John, a writer, likes eating fish.
(‘a writer’ is unimportant information)
Mrs Jason, my brother’s boss, is a nice lady.
(this information is not very important)
Make sentences with essential appositives:
1. My brother Harry is a nice guy.
2. My friend Amy has cooked a rich lunch for us.
3. Her boy Tommy is good at swimming.
Make sentences nonessential appositives:
1. The apples,yesterday I bought, are very delicious.
2.Mr Green, your math teacher is very knowledgeable.
