Next,to see how much self-control the students in each group had used up,Baumeister gave them each a puzzle to work on.The puzzle was difficult-actually,it was unsolvable——but what interested Baumeister was how long the students would work on it before giving up.As the"muscle"theory would predict,he found that the radish eaters gave up much faster than the chocolate eaters.They even reported feeling more than tired afterward.
