Bringing to remembrance what God has done for you and will do for you!

Psalms 70:4, 5 NLT

But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!” But as for me, I am poor and needy; please hurry to my aid, O God. You are my helper and my savior; O LORD, do not delay.

Matthew Henry’s Commentary

David here prays that God would send, I. Help to himself (v. 1, v. 5). II. Shame to his enemies (v. 2, v. 3). III. Joy to his friends (v. 4). These five verses were the last five verses of Ps. 40, . He seems to have intended this short prayer to be both for himself and us a salve for every sore, and therefore to be always in mind; and in singing we may apply it to our particular troubles, whatever they are.To the chief musician. A psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.

Reflection

David copied the last few verses from psalm 40 and use these verses to bring to remembrance what God has done and what He is going to do for him. Indeed, those who seek Him will be filled with joy and gladness! Yet , those who are struggling, God will come to help. However, it’s according to His timing , not ours.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me of past testimonies and also of those yet to come. You have always been the ever present help for times of need and You will continue to give aid in Your time. Thank You for reminding me how You often allow us to wait and experience sorrow for a moment in order for us to mature and grow. Bless my bros n sis to use this chorus as a prayer in their moments of despair and affliction. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
