VMFS LUN 复制注意

When a VMFS LUN is replicated, snapshot, or cloned, the VMFS LUN created is 100% identical to the original, including the UUID. To exploit this new VMFS LUN, it is possible to assign a new signature or to keep the same signature as the original under certain conditions.

Note:

Re-signaturing of a VMFS datastore has consequences if the datastore contains VMs. Indeed, each VM’s configuration files (vmx, vmsd, and vmdk files) specify on which datastores the VM’s virtual disks are located, based on the UUID value. In the case of a volume re-signaturing, the UUID values in these files are no longer correct because they point to the former VMFS with its former UUID. VMs must be re-registered in vCenter to integrate the new UUID, and the datacenter, resource pools, and network mappings must be set up again.
