Setting up and using the Rational Data Architect - Rational ClearCase integration

Rational Data Architect version 6.1 is shipped with the Rational ClearCase SCM Adapter version 6.0.23 and RDA 7.0 ships with version 7.0 of the adapter.

Setting ClearCase MVFS Options

  1. Click Start -> Control Panel
  2. Double-click ClearCase
  3. Click MVFS tab
  4. Enable Case Insensitive MVFS
  5. Enable Case Preserving
  6. Click Apply

Enabling the ClearCase SCM Adapter

  1. Start RDA
  2. Click Windows -> Preferences
  3. Expand Workbench
  4. Select Capabilities
  5. Expand Team
  6. Please a check in the ClearCase SCM Adapter to enable this capability
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click OK

Enabling the ClearCase Menu(Not necessary for version 7.0)

  1. Click Window -> Customize Perspective...
  2. Click the Commands tab
  3. Place a check in ClearCase and click OK

Disabling the Diff Merge Patterns

  1. Click Window -> Preferences
  2. Expand Team
  3. Expand ClearCase SCM Adapter
  4. Select Diff Merge Patterns
  5. Uncheck the check next to the *
  6. Click Apply
  7. Click OK

Adding Projects to Source Control
  1. Select the project in the Data Project Explorer
  2. Right-click
  3. Click Team -> Share Project
  4. Select the ClearCase SCM Adapter
  5. Click Next Note: If you are not already connected to Rational ClearCase you will be prompted to connect to Rational ClearCase.
  6. Click Browse... and browse to the VOB through the view example: M:/view_name/vob_name dynamic view example: C:/Documents and Settings/view_name/vob_name snapshot view
  7. Click Finish
  8. Click OK on the Add Elements(s) to Source Control dialog

Subsequent Team Access to Source Controlled Projects
  1. Click File -> Import
  2. Select Existing Project into Workspace and click Next Setting up and using the Rational Data Architect - Rational ClearCase integration_第6张图片
  3. Click Browse... and select the project by browsing to the VOB through the view example: M:/view_name/vob_name/project_name dynamic view example: C:/Documents and Settings/view_name/vob_name/project_name snapshot view
  4. Click Finish Note: If the ClearCase SCM Adapter capability was not enabled prior to the import, you will see a Confirm Enablement dialog. Setting up and using the Rational Data Architect - Rational ClearCase integration_第7张图片 Click OK
  5. Click ClearCase -> Connect to Rational ClearCase Note: If you do not see the ClearCase menu, refer to the Enabling the ClearCase Menu section of this document.
All ClearCase functions will be performed at the file level and not the element level. To perform a ClearCase function such as Check Out, follow these steps:
    1. Select the model file example: *.ldm
    2. Right-click and select Team
    3. Click the desired ClearCase function

Model Merges with the Integration You will be prompted for a merge if you Check In a model file that contains a conflicting change against the selected version.

  4. Close the merge editor by clicking the "x"
