以ADSL为例,DMT将信号分成255个信道,每个信道4.3125kHz,包括224个下行信道和25个上行信道,而且,上行和下载交界处可能各有一个信道没有用,作为间隔,所以实际上真正用来通讯的信道只有223和24个,总共247个。

PC机通过Ethernet与Modem相连,这是PPP帧封装在Etherent帧里面,在Modem传送数据到局方网络时,考虑到局方的ATM网络,会使用固定的ATM网元封装Ethernet数据帧在DSL物理层上传输,局方的接入服务器拿到数据后,从Ethernet帧解出PPP数据,跟根据PPP协议,分成Host PC的IP,也就是说这个时候HostPC的IP地址应该跟局方网络在一起(如果DSL Modem是router模式,则Host PC的IP应该是192.168.1.x,网关192.168.1.1则是modem)。
