From the beginning all men by nature were createdalike，and our bondage or servitude came in by theunjust oppression of naughty men．For if Godwould have had any bondmen from the beginning，he would have appointed who should be bond，andwho free．And therefore I exhort you to considerthat now the time is come，appointed to us byGod，in which ye may（if ye will）cast off the yokeof bondage，and recover liberty．I counsel youtherefore well to bethink yourselves，and to takegood hearts unto you，that after the manner of agood husband that tilleth his ground，and riddethout thereof such evil weeds as choke and destroythe good corn，you may destroy first the greatlords of the realm，and after，the judges andlawyers，and questmongers，and all other whohave undertaken to be against the commons．Forso shall you procure peace and surety to yourselvesin time to come；and by despatching out of the waythe great men，there shall be an equality in liber－ty，and no difference in degrees of nobility；but alike dignity and equal authority in all thingsbrought in among you．
