努力，但不要太过用力 - Shoot for the Stars|看老友记学地道英语

近几年一直有年轻人过劳死的新闻，鲜活珍贵的生活就这么被高强高压的工作夺去，让旁人惋惜，让亲人痛心。

在死亡面前，很多我们不顾健康去追求的东西，都变得没有了意义。

所以在有生之年，一定要好好思考如何过得不至于太冷漠，太功利，就像乔布期曾经说的，

死亡是生命最伟大的发明，死的意义就在于让我们知道生的可贵。一个人只有在认识到自己是有死的时候，才会开始思考生命，从而大彻大悟。不再沉溺于享乐、懒散、世俗，不再沉溺于金钱、物质、名位，然后积极地去筹划与实践美丽人生。

这就是向死而生。

今天我们通过老友记的一个片段，来学习一下如何用英语来表达立志高远和安于现状。

Mr. Geller: Look, there are people like Ross who need to shoot for the stars, with his museum, and his papers getting published. Other people are satisfied with staying where they are- I'm telling you, these are the people who never get cancer. They are happy with what they have, they are basically content like cows.

而像罗斯这种人则追求卓越，博物馆，发表论文…，其他人则安于现状。告诉你，这种人永远不会得癌症。他们对拥有的一切感到满意，安逸得就像奶牛一样。

Ross: Cows? dad?

奶牛？爸爸？

Mr. Geller: She knows how much I love cows.

她知道我有鑫喜欢奶牛。

Mr. Geller:...And I read about these women trying to have it all, and I thank God 'Our Little Harmonica' doesn't seem to have that problem.

我还知道，这些女人想拥有一切，幸好我们家的小摩妮卡似乎没有这种问题

如何表达立志高远，有野心？

1. Shoot for the stars: 比喻目标很远，做很厉害的事。

 You need to find the confidence to shoot for the stars. 你要找到成就一番事业的信心。

2. try to have it all： 想要拥有一切

Work hard , and try to have it all. 努力工作，争取拥有一切。

如何表达安于现状不思进取？

1. stay where they are 呆在原来的地方，安于现状

Some people are afraid of failure, so they stay where they are and try to not to make progress.

有些人惧怕失败, 所以他们踟蹰不前，不思进取。

2. happy with what they have 对于拥有的一切感到开心满意

You should be happy with what you already have and not risk losing it by trying to get more.

你应该为自己拥有的感到高兴，不要尝试用它们换取更多。
