Consultant, Public Policy and Economics -Beijing


The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is a leading global provider of country, industry and policy analysis. We help our clients navigate the toughest challenges and specialise in evidence-based insights that create impact for leading organisations. Currently, the EIU Consulting team is recruiting a Consultant with a quantitative profile to work within an internationally-focused and diverse team. The successful candidate will manage data-driven strategy projects for our clients and play a prominent role in building our consulting practice in China.

Accountabilities


How you will contribute:


  • Manage all aspects of consulting projects including planning and execution

  • Leading client meetings and day-to-day client communications

  • Design and implement internal workflows and take ownership of team deadlines

  • Uphold the highest quality standards in the team’s output

  • Develop new data-driven methodologies to solve client problems and deploy advanced analytics to generate insights

  • Deliver projects to strict deadlines and within budget, ensuring achievement of agreed revenue and contribution targets

  • Manage and build client and stakeholders relationships

  • Assist in business development, prepare proposals and participate in client pitches

  • Assist in internal training and recruitment of talent as needed

Experience, skills and professional attributes


The ideal skills for this role are:


  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or other quantitative discipline; Master's degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 5 years of prior work and outstanding project management track record in consulting for industry or government clients

  • Experience creating solutions that involve advanced analytics, including expertise with one or more of the following analytical software packages: STATA, Eviews, R or Python

  • Client management experience including with senior executives

  • Excellent presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex analysis and ideas to non-specialist audiences

  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin

  • Most critically, a passion for using data to solve complex problem
