The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are swapping out the Queen's Sandringham estate for Los Angeles this holiday season, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The Queen heads up to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk early on December 19 or 20 and the remainder of the family join her on Christmas Eve.

While the Queen has been known to travel via public transport – including for her Christmas holidays in Sandringham – she also has her very own train, which she uses on rare occasions throughout the year.

过去6年，威廉哈里两兄弟12月24日都会来一场友谊足球赛。
For the past six years Princes William and Harry have indulged in a little friendly competition in a football match on December 24.
俩人会从女王在当地的200名工作人员中邀请一些人一起比赛，兄弟俩分别在不同的阵营~
The brothers, who normally play opposite one another, invite some of the 200 members of staff from the Queen’s Norfolk estate to join them at nearby Castle Rising for the match.

Once everyone has arrived at Sandringham the children are invited to finish decorating the two trees that decorate the house. It is a tradition that Archie would have been encouraged to partake in as his cousins Charlotte, George and Louis have in previous years.

One of the more unusual festive traditions that the royal family has is to open their Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. "The royals are of German descent so they weave in German traditions to their celebrations," Former royal chef Darren McGrady told Express, noting Germans typically open presents on Dec. 24. "After afternoon tea, they open gifts on Christmas Eve, as is the German tradition."

圣诞大餐来了！“猪包毯”是个啥？
圣诞节当天，从教堂回来后就是午餐时间啦~女王的圣诞菜单通常都是法式大餐~龙虾沙拉、烤火鸡、“猪包毯”、栗子甘蓝和根菜……
Following the trip to church, the family will reconvene for lunch together but the Queen's menus are always in French. The royals will dine on a salad with shrimp or lobster, two enormous 25lb roast turkeys, pigs in blankets, Brussels sprouts cooked with chestnuts and root vegetables.

“Pigs in blankets” is the name for a very popular snack often served alongside the traditional roast dinner during Christmas. The reason for the strange name is linked to how the food is prepared. Usually, a small sausage is wrapped in bacon, and it looks kind of like a small pig wrapped in a blanket.

Ingrid told Grazia that The Queen asks each of her guests to "weigh themselves" using a pair of antique scales when they first arrive at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk for the Christmas period.
But this is all to make sure guests are having a great time - and they're weighed to make sure they're being "well fed".
The tradition dates back to King Edward VII's reign in the early 1900s - and applies to all members of the royal clan.
