Determined to loyalty

But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.——Joshua24:15

Will is the activity of the whole man, and I cannot give it up, but use it. I must be obedient and accept the spirit of God. When God reveals the vision of truth, it is not in what he will do, but in what we will do. The Lord has always set his work before every man. All we have to do is remember what we did when God caught us—what we did when we were saved or when we first met Jesus and were illuminated by the truth. This will help you obey and serve God. When the spirit of God gives you a new will, remember those moments.

“Today you may choose whom you will serve.” This is a prudent consideration, not an easy choice; everything else hinges on your decision. This is between you and God; do not consult with any man of flesh. Every time God’s new will comes to you; the more others are pushed out of the circle, the more pressure from that. God allows you to value the opinions of other believers, but you increasingly doubt whether they understand your decision. You don’t have to follow God to get you there. The only thing he has to explain to you is himself. Declare to him, “I am determined to be faithful.” As soon as you commit your allegiance to the Lord, you become your own witness. You don’t have to consult with other believers to admit to God, “I will serve you.” Pledge allegiance and trust others to do the same.

Dear God, enter every broken heart and life, which is penetrated by your word with gentleness.
