Social Network

At 2011.12.13 Tuesday I and a classmate give a conversation at the English oral class. Following is our sript. In the dialogue we have talked about the advantages and disadvantages of social network. 

Advantages: 1. new simple exchange method

Disadvantages: 1. More useless information occupying our time.

Social Network

1. Hello, everyone. Today We are going to talk about the popular web application: social network. You know that today the network is popular in our daily life, and a majority of people use it to get information or release information.
2. Yes, in every day, I will use the weibo to look over the information of my old or new classmates and friends. Also I will use it to release my status, upload some interesting photos or pictures and share several useful articles with them.
3. Yes, it's really convenient. I think such exchange method will be a significant one in the future. Do you know which is the most popular social network in the world?
4. Facebook is the most popular social network which is already used by more than 700 million people, but it is not available in our country.
5. Yes, you are right. But in our country there are also other social networks such as sina weibo net, renren net and so on. They also have millions of users who visit their websites.
6. But why can these applications attract so many people. And what is the essence of success of this kind of web?

I think that the most important side is that the social network can give you a sample way to exchange with others including your friends, your classmates, your colleagues and the people with common interesting. And the social networking service can be regarded as a service, platform, or site that focus on building and reflecting social relations among people.
8. Yes, I can't agree with you anymore. I always use this platform to find my friends who I have not contracted for a few years. When I have found them, I was really amazing.
9. It's the computer's intelligence. It can even find your interesting things if you have filled in the register forms carefully. For example, if you have filled in the column of favorite movie, you will always get the newest information about these films.
10. What a smart net! I have known that social networking service is allowing scientific groups to expand their knowledge base and share ideas, and without this new mean of communicating their theories might become isolated.
11. I know that there are more and more people have been attracted by the social network, not only the common, but also the researchers. So I think it will be prosperous in the near future.
12. Yes, it's really worth being mentioned in many aspects. It provides a new method to communicate. But as anything else, I know the social network also have a lot of disadvantages.
13. Yes, you are right. I have hearted that President Obama said, "information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment." I think it really reflects the bad side of social network.
14. I hate to say this, but you are right. Remember when computers were supported to save us time?
15. Yes, but now it seems just the opposite. The Internet just keeps giving us more ways to do nothing.
16. Social network gives us more information than ever before. Computers are all around us too – they are on our desks, in our pockets, on our coffee tables. We are tweeting and retweeting. We're downloading apps, and uploading photos. We're updating status and reading our news feeds and telling the whole world what we like and don't like, because for some reason we imagine that the whole world actually cares. But we even don’t know what we are doing. We are not thinking. We are just processing.
17. You are right. We are not thinking. We are just processing. We are putting our brains into a quickly running engine. We are clinking on links and swimming through a torrent of useless garbage which is thrown at us by idiots and self-promoters.
18. Yes, there's really a lot of meaningless information occupying our lots of time.
19. We have amazing new systems and tools for communicating information. The problems is we've become so fascinated with the means of transmission that we've lost sight of what's actually passing along over the wires and airwaves.
20. That's a really problem. But unluckily, I don't see any change of this problem. What we can see in the near future is that it will get worse. I even don’t know what can I do about this.
21. As college students, we must realize this phenomenon. We'd better make a reasonable use of Social Network. And we should call on people to make a balance.
