Overview:

Describe Image / 6-7 Questions / 7 minutes


Marking Criteria:

失分点: 读图混乱,读完一条线,再读另外一条线;内容缺失

发音,流利度和内容,三者缺一不可


Skills:

熟悉各种题型(picture, line graph, bar graph, pie chart, map, table, process graph, etc ),在考试时才能知己知彼,百战不殆。

只有线图称之为graph

考试时你只有40秒去陈述,一方面不要超时,另一方面要在规定时间内完成,有一些属于自己的模板会更好地帮你去完成。


Structure

Overview:包含标题,横纵坐标和图例(非必须)(in term of ...  / in 均可)(记得带上单位)

The graph is about ... from X to X in thousands.

Details:3 Points:包含三点信息内容,就可以拿内容满分

Conclusion:结论 (任何一句和图片相关就行)

万能结论:

1. There' a positive/negative relationship between A and B.

2. After the year XXX,  A outnumbered/surpassed B.

3. Compared with A, B has larger numbers/figures.

4. Paraphrase 极值: XX is the driest city. / XX is the most popular one.

5. There's an increasing/decreasing trend in A.

话题性结论:

人口增长:There's a population explosion in somewhere.

老年人口增长: There's an aging population/issue in somewhere.

经济增长: The economy in somewhere has been boosted.

世界地图: Sth can be found near the equator/equatorial area.


Example:

Overview:

The chart shows the future trends in the percentage of American citizens over 65 years old.

3 Points:

In 2010, about 13 percent of US citizens were over 65. This figure is predicted to rise steadily so that by 2035, it will be 20 percent.Between 2010 and 2030, the rise will be quite steady whereas between 2030 and 2035, the rise is less significant, suggesting that the increase in the aging population may peak short after 2035.

Conclusion/Prediction:

However, the rise will have serious implications in areas such as the provison of government services.

通常图表题有很多细节需要你描述,你只需要把握其中重要的几点描述就好了,可以忽略掉其中一部分信息。抓住重点就好。


当你中间可能卡住,需要一些过渡句:

1. As it can be seen, XXX shows

2. I am really surprised/shocked by the ...

3. It's interesting/obvious/clear to notice that ...


常用单词:

波动:fluctuate-fluctuation 

稳定在:level off at / level out at / hover at / stabilize at / reached a plateau at 

到达最高点:peak at / reach the highest point at

到达最低点: reach / arrive at / hit 

占多少比重:account for / represent 

区间:range from


极简句式:

Line graph:

The number increased/decreased from 数字 (in year) to 数字 in year.

The number does not change/ remained stable, at around 数字.

The figure fluctuated a lot, ranging from Min to Max.


 Notes:

一个比较好的方法是,用手机不断地录音,不断地去听自己的录音,同时请老师同学指正,争取在38-39s完成。

叙说两种方法:排序法和极值法

遇到混合图,可分开叙说

数字的读法:1个逗号,thousand; 2个逗号,million;三个逗号:billion
