Kite Runner chapter1-3

单词:

Afterthought

Ifyou do or say something as an afterthought, you do or say it after something else as an addition, perhaps without careful thought

Aloofness

Not friendly or forthcoming: cool and distant

例句:That was how I escaped my father’s aloofness, in my dead mother’s books.

造句:Along with the many warm-hearted folks to help us came those who are aloof and detached.

Tell on

to give information about someone, usually something bad that they have said or done, especially to a person in authority

造句:In river town, some students would tell on foregin teahcers to official in authority.

句子:

1、That was a long time ago, but it’s wrong what they say about the past, I’ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now, I realize I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty-six years.

2、“When you kill a man, you steal a life,”Baba said.”You steal his wife’s right to a husband; rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone’s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness.

总结:

Amir lives in America now while he used to live in Pakistan. A phone call and twin flying kites remind him of Hassan, his Baba, Ali and Kabul. His Baba is almost the richest one in Kabul, Ali is the servant and Hassan is Ali’s son, at the same time, Amir’s friend. Both Amir and Hassan haven’t seen his mom since Amir’s mom is died ofdelivery hemorrhage and Hassan’s mom escaped after 5 days of the childbirth.

Amir is always proud of his father being such a wealthy and honorable man. However, it turns out Amir doesn’t resemble Baba. It is said that Baba wrestled a bear, but Amir even doesn’t dare to fight back when being bullied. Baba loves soccer while Amir is likely to be immersed in books left by the past Mom. He overheard his Baba talking with Kabul, “If I hadn’t seen the doctors pull him out of my wife with my own eyes, I’d never believe he is my son”. The desire to receive Baba’s recognizes takes root since then.

A boy who won’t stand up for himself becomes a man who can’t stand up to anything”。
