Day 1- Ask for Informational Interview

Dear Ms. Li,

I heard your name and was given your contact information from Lisa Lu. I am an English major expected to graduate in this coming June, and I hope to seek a career in translation upon graduation. Lisa told me that you have three years of experience working as a translator with a financial company. I would appreciate the chance to ask you about your career path and experience as a translator.

I wish to be a translator since freshman, so I always try to move towards this target. I once worked part-time for translation agencies for over one year and have a general idea about the job. Before making any decision for my future career path, I think it is better to know how it feels to do full-time translation work beyond a translation agency. Therefore, I would really like to speak with experienced industry insiders, like you.

I know you are now occupied on a business trip in the U.S. I am hopeful that you would be willing to have a short talk with me over the phone or via email at some point after you come back. My email address is [email protected]; phone number is 138XXXXXXXX and it is also my WeChat account.

Looking forward to your response and thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Jasmine
