Hi boys and girls. I know yesterdaywas

the result release day for HKCEE, and I know many of you are this year's

HKCEE candidates. Just wanna share with you some of my random thoughts.

It's been so long since my cert exam - i took it back in 1995. Just

like all of you I thought this exam was the only thing I was living for

and my cert result will determine what I will do for the rest of my

life. Anyways, I did well in it, so I thought things will be very easy.

Then I nearly flunked F.6. and I realized I couldn't survive A-Levels so

I went to the states for college... Anyways, my point is, like I always

tell people who are younger than I, that HKCEE is only a very tiny

stage of our lives and whether you do good in it or not really does not

affect your future as much as you think. This sounds cliche but I guess

it's the best way to put it, and coming from my own personal experience

it really is true. When you grow older and start working you'll know

your HKCEE results really means nothing. I'm not saying that you

shouldn't take this exam seriously - everyone should be serious in

whatever they're doing/studying - but just don't take it too seriously.

Aceing exams is one thing, and growing intellectually is totally another

thing and I never believe that doing exams contribute to intellectual

development. (Haha i got a B in HKCEE econ but now I can't even

understand half of what's written in the newspaper's business page

haha). So I think it's more important to keep challenging yourselves with

different things to read, see and hear. If you flunked cert, don't get

too upset. If you did well, don't get too happy.

Pong
