Actually, at first I thought it was a vacation to avoid the boring and vacuous life in lab, just like the holiday in Thailand where I spent 5 days only on playing, photographing and food. But it turned out to be a venture. Those people, and the days in Sri Lanka have been in my dreams since I came back. Here, I must post something about the program Go Green 7.0 and all the lovely people I've met.
i admit it is not beautiful, just like a little child 's handmade crafts. But it reminds me the time when we work together, not perfect but impressive.
I often regret why at that time i didn't keep a diary to write down the happiness and maybe some conflicts between some people caused by the different cultures. Now i figure out: the days in Sri Lanka seemed to be so short that we even didn't have time to write the momentary feelings down. Luckily, i took lots of photos, and looking at them a smile often comes unconsciously.
Accommodation:
Everything is fine in our EP house, except the crowds of ants and incontinous water supply failure. We have 4 beds(bunk bed) in a room, but have to acconmedate 5 peoples. So how to make it? One room the put two bunk beds together, and 3 girls slept in the lower bunk. I have been their room, and laid in the lower bunk with them. It is a bit of fun, because the people in the left must face the window when she prepared to sleep, and girl in the right have to face the walls, lastly the girl in the middle have to face the ceilings to avoid the embarrassment. but actually, when they fell asleep, they forgot everthing and found themselves facing each other. In our room, a girl from China shared a bed with a girl from Malaysia. And in the other rooms, a girl or a boy have to sleep on the mattress. yes, we only have 5 rooms but 24 peoples, so crowed but sometimes it is really funny to play together.
A bosorn friend after brings distant land near.
We are couple! A girl asked why we two seemed to be best friends in the house, and i told her "because we are both 22, hahahahaha!"
Go Green 7.0:
our program is to protect the environment of Sri Lanka. honestly, what we did mostly is to plant--trees, flowers and so on. in the first week, we did researches about the pollution in Pettah.
then, we went to the famous temple in Colombo——Gangaramaya Temple.
On the way to Gangaramaya Temple, we met two naughty boys and their shy elder brother.
In the temple, dionations are for those who need help, not for ourslves. Actually, it is so weird to see the gods from different religions being together.
Then, the second week we have a big activity(but not for me)——Global Village.
because i just can't understand why they have to keep dancing from afternoon to evening, and think it can help your leadership, but i love the snack and food they brought.
then come to my farvourite part——take a train to Nuwara Eliya! to be frankly, colombo is so hot and highly polluted, but in Nuwara, there are tea plantation all over the mountains and the weather there is cold.
and in Nuwara, we visited the organic farms and potato seed farm, where we learned the development of agriculture in Sri Lanka.
moreover, we also visited a large hydropower station.it is splendid like a palace.
the last week we took a night train to Jaffna. i felt so pity not join the planation, but we also had a good time. Compared with the cities in the south, Jaffna is a very peaceful and comfortable. we can see people riding their bikes slowly in the broad street, and say hello to you. Even the milk cows could walk around in the street!
TRAVELING:
You can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on the way.
in the free time, we went to Kandy, Mirissa, Galle and Horton Plains. each place has different view, Kandy is very confort and we got a close touch with the monkies! Mirissa is a good place to go surfing, and if you climbed the big rock of maybe called a small island, you would find a most beatiful view of sea. Galle is fort with a long history and profound cultural heritage. horton plains is a wilderness with the wind howling, and the mist in the morning makes it a glorious sight.
oh, I miss you guys so much!
