No matter how many scores i've gotten in my CET-4,maybe 430s or even lower,i still insist writting this article in English.
Doss is a very special person i have ever saw.
Since he refused to pick up a rifle against sergeant's order,things became dramatic than i thought about this film.it is not a film about war,it is a film about love and faith.
What kind of faith can make one man do like this? I'm not sure.i am a typicle person in china,and we don't share some strong religions beliefs when we borned in this land.
But Doss is different,when the officer sat in front of him,trying to persuade him to abey the order he've being given by sergeant to pick up a rifle,said「i understand that God talks to you.is that right?」
Doss:「sorry sir, i am not a crazy person」
Officer:「then how do you feel the others regard you? 」
Doss:「i'm different i know that.But i am not going to be the person that i'm not,i am what i am」
Officer:「sounds lonely.You lonely?」
Shooking his head,Doss:「no sir,i just simply believe what i believe」
Officer:「well, i'm trying to understand.Was it God who told you not to pick up a rifle?」
Doss:「God says not to kill.That is one of his most important commandments」
Officer:「most people take that to only don't commit murder.War is completely different set of circumstances」
Doss:「Jesus said a new commandment i give them to you.That you love one another,just as i love you」
Officer:「this is satan himself we've fighting.Sure as good Christian you can see that」
Doss:「i can see that sir and that is why i joined up.But i'm sorry i will not bear arms」
Doss was very sure of what his faith,even if his thought was against the willing of army.He had a whole thinking system to surpport his behave.This is the point why he was different from others.
For normal person,it makes sense that their decisions will change with the external circumstance.But i think it just shows that they don't really believe their faith.
If a person deeply understand what they insist on,it will gaide them to make chioces.Not against their heart to adapt to the environment.
I think the person who has strong faith will gain others' respect.Like Doss,when he sent 78 injured soilders down to the bottom of the cliff one by one,all of those soilders who regarded him as a crazy person showed the highest respect.they even started to attack the enemy untill Doss finished his pray.What a dramatic change!
