In the deepest sense of the word, a friend is someone who sees more potential in you than you see in yourself, someone who helps you become the best version of yourself. 1.best version of yourself

version这个词虽然不陌生，但我不会主动想起来用它来表达“更好的自己”这个意思，这里需要加深记忆。另外值得关注的是，version可以用来表达做事的方式和一种描述方式。

比如：Could Donna’s version of what happened that night be correct? 唐娜对那晚发生的事情的描述是否正确呢？

再比如：Is the coffee break the adult version of recess? 工间喝咖啡是成人的休息方式吗？

2.a wealth of something，表示丰富的某物，a lot of something useful or good，通过英英释义可以看出这个用法多表示褒义。

造句：As a teacher，she offers a wealth of patience for children.

3.speak up：发表意见，to say something, especially to express your opinion.此处可以与express做同义替换。

例句：There was a brief silence, then Gerald spoke up.

4.pitch表示竭力推销，to try to persuade someone to do business with you, buy something etc.这里与sell可以做同义替换。

例句：Booksellers are keen to pitch for school business.

5.ally 表示同盟国，引申为盟友，someone who helps and supports you when other people are trying to oppose you.这里可以与partner做同义替换。

例句：Ridley was one of the Queen’s closest allies .

6.channel：引导，把…用于，to control and direct something such as money or energy towards a particular purpose.从这个词“渠道”的名词义引申而来。

例句：Most of his energy was channeled into writing and lecturing.

7.strength：可以表达优势，a particular quality or ability that gives someone or something an advantage.可以与advantage做同义替换。

例句：Be aware of your own strengths and weaknesses . 要清楚你自己的长处和短处。
