☞☞句子插入题是几乎每篇托福阅读中都会遇到的题目。和托福阅读当中其他题目类型相比较，句子插入题难度中等。熟悉托福考试的学生，在句子插入题上的正确率也并不低。但是，在考生中普遍存在的问题是，考生们需要花费大量的时间换来正确率。

☞☞托福阅读考试每篇文章平均需要在20分钟内做完，如果在一道题上花费的时间过长，这会导致解决其他题目的时间减少，而降低其他较难题目的正确率。这在托福阅读考试中是不可取的。其实，如果找到了正确的做题方法，句子插入题是可以在很短的时间内做完并保证正确率的。

针对考生们常出现的问题，本文主要介绍做句子插入题的比较有效率的方法。
首先，在做句子插入题时，我们需要找到表示给出的句子和文中某句子关系的连词。通过连词表示的关系，我们就能很快确定句子插入的位置。

以TPO-3中一道句子插入题为例，具体来展示这一方法如何应用到题目中。

But even if uncooperative farmers were to join in the conservation efforts, this would only delay the depletion of the aquifer.
将上面一句话插入下述A、B、C、D四个空缺中。
The reaction of farmers to the inevitable depletion of the Ogallala varies. Many have been attempting to conserve water by irrigating less frequently or by switching to crops that require less water. A■Others, however, have adopted the philosophy that it is best to use the water while it is still economically profitable to do so and to concentrate on high-value crops such as cotton. ☞☞可以看出需要插入的句子以but开头，表示转折关系。再看but后句子的意思为不合作的农民想要合作。我们说这句表示转折关系，那么该句的上一句应该表示“合作的农民不合作了”。带着这样的预判再读文章，就能很快的找出该句需要放在C处。
如果需要插入的句子没有清晰表示关系的连词，那么我们需要找出能指代上句中某部分的代词。只要找到文章中被指代的部分，我们只需要把句子插入被指代部分所在句的后面就可以了。例如：
This economic reliance on livestock in certain regions makes large tracts of land susceptible to overgrazing.
将上面一句话插入下述A、B、C、D四个空缺中。
A■The raising of livestock is a major economic activity in semiarid lands, where grasses are generally the dominant type of natural vegetation. B■The consequences of an excessive number of livestock grazing in an area are the reduction of the vegetation cover and the trampling and pulverization of the soil. C■ This is usually followed by the drying of the soil and accelerated erosion. D■

从这句中我们需要找到能够指代的词，也就是”this economic reliance on livestock”。通过这个词，我们可以知道上文中一定提到了这种依赖于畜牧业的经济。显然本句不能放在A处。我们可以发现在第一句就出现了这种经济，那么我们可以直接判断，该句应该放在B处。
