2 吾爱伫于佳丽中，宛如百合于棘丛。

3 吾爱立于众男子，如同柰树于林间。

雅歌是旧约圣经诗歌智慧书的第五卷。雅歌这个名字取自书中的首句：“所罗门的歌，是歌中的雅歌。”根据希伯来文的逐字译法，这个名字是“歌中之歌”，意即卓越绝伦的歌。这样的说法跟“天上的天”——意即天的最高处——有异曲同工之妙。 （《申命记》第10章第14节）
克拉克圣经评论说：它不是一辑歌集，而是一首歌，“一首举世无双，绝妙非凡的歌”。 “这首美妙绝伦的诗歌在以色列国中写成时，它的确堪称是旷世的伟大作品。”以上是生活在公元第一世纪的犹太“师尊”阿吉巴(Akiba)对雅歌的评价。主题：一个绝佳婚姻里爱的历史，启示出个别信徒与基督爱的交通中进展的经历。
雅歌揭示出爱情绝妙之美及迷人之处，是神给世人最好的恩赐之一。雅歌里的爱情之声和箴言第八和第九章里的智慧之声一样，暗示爱情与智慧对人具有强烈的吸引力。
