Lesson24 It could be worse 不幸中之万幸

I entered the hotel manager's office and sat down. I had just lost $50 and I felt very upset.' I left the money in my room,' I said, 'and it's not there now.' The manager was sympathetic, but he could do nothing. 'Everyone's losing money these days,' he said. He started to complain about this wicked world but was interrupted by a knock at the door. A girl came in and put an envelope on his desk. It contained $5o. 'I found this outside this gentleman's room' she said. 'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!'

I am Steve and I am a hotel manager. I often receive complains[=> complaints] from customers. Yesterday, a customer, who lives in 1102, came into my office and sit down. He told me that he put his fifty dollars in the room but the money was stolen by anyone[by someone else]. I expressed my sympathy for his loss then I started to complain this wicked world. I told him that everyone was losing money. A knock at the door broke our talk, and a girl came in and put an evelope on my desk. She said she found this outside this customer's door. The evelope contained fifteen dollars in it. I felt embarrassed when the customer said there was still some honesty in this world.
