It has been said that the mortals cannot see fairies except for one night each year when they gather for a celebration under the full moon of a mid-summer’s eve. Only a fortunate few are lucky enough to witnessing such an enchanted gathering.
据说人类肉眼是看不到小仙女的，但每年有一个晚上例外，是在隆厦的一个夜晚，满月当空，小仙女们聚集欢庆，只有少数幸运儿才能目睹她们的欢聚，沁心迷人。
On an enchanted mid-summer’s eve,
When the full moon shines most bright,
Madelyn awakens, slips out of bed
And tiptoes into the night.
在一个迷人的隆厦夜晚，
满圆浩月，
马德琳醒了，溜下床，
掂着脚踏入夜空.
Past the old oak and cypress trees,
And the swing set Grandpa made,
Madelyn finds the secret path
That leads to the magical glade.
走过古老的柏树与橡树林，
到了爷爷做的木架秋千，
马德琳找到一条秘密通道，
通向那神奇的丛林旷野。
Through the forest she eagerly runs
Toward the distant sound of cheering.
She passes the fragrant lilac bush
As she nears the enchanted clearing.
穿过丛林，心潮澎湃，
奔向那遥远欢快的声处，
走过芳香的百合花丛，
挨近了这诱人的空地。
There, beneath the moon and the stars,
A rainbow of color fills the night.
Hundreds of fairies flutter and fly
As Madelyn looks on in delight.
在那，繁星浩月下，
彩虹当夜，
成百仙女，飘呀飘，飞呀飞，
马德琳如痴如醉。
This is the one special night of the year
For the gathering of fairies, one and all.
Never is there a more magical time
Than at the marvelous Fairies Ball.
这是一年一度的特别夜晚，
小仙女们同心相聚，
再也没有更神奇的时刻了，
它就是奇特的“泡泡仙”。
The trees near the clearing are adorned
With flowers of red,yellow and white.
A fire of blue,green and pink,
Provides a most spectacular sight.
空处旁树树盛妆，
白黄红各色鲜花，
粉绿蓝朵朵火花，
景象壮观胜壮观。
The ground is covered with the petals
Of four hundred thimbleberry plants,
Providing the perfect ballroom floor
For all the fairies to play and to dance.
满地花瓣，
成百作物，满园浆果，
一片舞场，完美至臻，
仙女大众，载歌载舞。
Young Madelyn arrives just in time
For the first fairy dance of the night.
A hush falls over the gleeful group
As the princess of the fairies takes flight.
小马德琳及时赶到，
首次看到夜空下仙女舞蹈，
成群欢悦，嘎然肃静，
此刻她们的公主起飞了。
Everyone watches the beautiful princess,
With her golden hair and purple wings,
As she gracefully begins her magical dances,
While the fairy choir softly sings.
漂亮公主，个个看，
满头金发又紫翼，
优雅起舞，真奇妙，
合唱仙女轻轻地唱。
The other fairies sit and watch,
Each waiting for their chance.
The princess finishes with a bow,
And all the fairies begin to dance.
其它仙女坐着看，
各个等着也能转，
公主谢幕还鞠躬，
所有仙女就起舞。
Madelyn happily joins in the fun,
Dancing to voices of the choir;
Twisting,twirling and spinning around
By the light of the moon and the fire.
马德琳开心一起玩，
随着合唱一起舞，
又扭又旋绕着转，
和着夜光靠着篝火。
Brilliant colors and flickering shadows,
Make the Fairy Ball a most marvelous sight.
Madelyn joins in the fairies laughter
As she joyfully dances all night.
亮丽色彩闪闪光，
“泡泡仙”最奇最怪.
马德琳一起跟着笑，
开心一夜一起跳.
When the rising sun peeks through the trees,
And the dancing and singing ends,
Madelyn knows the time has come
To bid farewell to her fairy friends.
此时太阳升起，阳光透过丛林，
欢歌载舞停了，
马德琳知道时间到了，
告别她的仙女好友。
First she bows to the fairy princess,
Thanking her for the lovely night.
Then she turns to watch the others
Quickly flutter and fly out of sight.
她先给公主鞠躬
感谢这个宜人的夜晚。
然后转向其他仙女，看着她们，
飞呀飞，飘呀飘，很快无影无踪。
Madelyn returns up the traveled path,
Past the lilac bush in full bloom.
Reaching home she quietly enters
And tiptoes back to her room.
马德琳踏上回程的路上，
经过百合花丛，朵朵绽放，
到了家门，悄悄进入，
掂着脚回到了房间。
The early arms of the rising sun
Cast long shadows on the wall.
Madelyn smiles and closes her eyes
And dreams of the next Fairy Ball.
初升的太阳，
在墙上投射出一道长长影子.
马德琳笑着闭上了眼，
梦里又来了“泡泡仙”。
后记：因缘遇上一位十岁小女孩，特别可爱，也就由衷竭力译了这篇美国盛传的诗级般的童话故事，希望她妈妈会反复讲这个故事，直到孩子能朗朗上口，片片张口即出，韵律十足，这就是母语化。2019-12-17，厦门
