cloth与clothes的区别

* His clothes are made of expensive cloth. 

cloth是名词：
- 作【不可数名词】时意为“布料”
  cotton / woollen / silk cloth 棉布/羊毛布料（毛呢）/丝绸（绢布）
- 作【可数名词】时意为“[作某一用途的]一块布”
  a wet / clean cloth 一块湿布/干净的布
  dishcloth 洗碗布
  facecloth 洗脸毛巾 
  tablecloth（尤指餐桌的）桌布，台布 （不是抹布！见下一个单词）
  wiping/cleaning cloth 擦布、抹布

clothes是【复数名词】，意为“衣服，衣物”：

另外要注意发音上的区别，虽然形近，但是元音o的发音却不一样。
- cloth：US [klɑθ]   UK [klɒθ]（注：美式与英式的发音差别很大）
- clothes: US [kloʊðz]   UK [kləʊðz] （注：/ðz/音难发，可直接略掉/ð/只发/z/，于是同close发音一样）
