A strike by busmen in protest at pay and working conditions will be due to begin next
Tuesday. No one is sure how long the strike will last. The busmen have stated that the strike will not end until their requirements will have been satisfied. As it is said that the
strike will last for at least a week, free rides will be offered by many owners of private
cars to people on their way to work. This will ease traffic pressure on the train to some extent. In the meantime, a number of university students who will have to pass a
special test for driving the bus in two days' time are going to provide people with bus
rides. Even so, people are going to find it difficult to work. But so far, the gratitude the
public felt towards the students has been expressed in letters to the Press. Only one or two people have strongly disapproved of students' driving.
