best before

best before后面跟上日期，显示的是食用此食品最佳的时间。多用于速冻、干货或罐头食品，如果带有这个字样的食品就算日期过了也可以吃，只不过就不是最新鲜的时候了。

shelf life

“货架期，保存期，保质期”，一般用单数，表示商品（尤其是食品）在变质之前保存在商店或者家里的时长。

production/ manufacturing date

production date生产日期

manufacturing date生产日期

product是生产，manufacturing的原型是manufacture，意思是制造，所以production date和manufacturing date都是生产日期。
