第一代无线传感器的出现吸引了人们使用这项技术来检测和监测人类生命体征的想法。有了这项技术,许多非医疗应用成为可能,比如在地震或山体滑坡中发现被困者,但主要的问题是这种系统在过去非常昂贵。然而,现在使用调频连续波雷达降低了系统的复杂性和成本。

The appearance ofthe fifirst wireless sensors attracted the idea of using this technology todetect and monitor human vital signs. With this, lots of non-medical applicationsbecame possible, like detecting trapped victims in earthquakes or landslides.The main problem is that this systems used to be very expensive. However, theuse of an FM-CW radar reduces the complexity and cost of the system.

In this thesis, alow-cost and low power consuming system to detect breathing is presented. Thesystem is composed by: a Raspberry Pi, a LCD with keypad, a Digital-to-AnalogConverter and the radar TRX_024_06, that can transmit FM-CW signals. All thiscomponents are described, as well as the software used to manage the system. Inthe last part of the thesis, test setup and measurements are described.Finally, the results are presented, showing that the radar can determine ifthere is someone breathing and estimate the frequency.
