There are six kinds of coins in Canadian dollar, they are named as penny, nickel, dime, quarter, loonie and toonie.

For the amount of the coins,  a penny is one cent, a nickel is five cents, a dime is ten cents, a quarter is 25 cents, a loonie is one dollar, as well as 100 cents, and a toonie is two dollars.

The symbols for the coins are a maple leaf for the penny,  a beaver for the nickel, a Bluenose for the dime, a Caribou for the quarter, a loon for the loonies and a polar bear for the toonie.

One dollar equals 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels or 100 pennies. We often use coins to buy small items, but now no more pennies are made because pennies are too small money, it costs more money to make them than they are worth.
