英语写作中“建立”、“构造”build、construct、establish、set up的用法

一、这几个单词中，build、construct 在写作中的使用频度一般高于establish、set up，为了避免过多使用build 和construct ，可以适当使用establish 和set up。

二、这些单词的用法都一样，都是表达某位科学家或作者建立、构造了理论、公式、系统、算法、协议等等，例如：

Maxwell built/constructed/established/set up the equations of electromagnetism.（麦克斯韦建立了电磁学方程。）这句也可以用create。

Building/constructing/establishing on the mathematical intractable problems, scientists developed public key cryptography.（科学家发展了建立在数学难解问题之上的公钥密码学。）

In 1969, American physicists and computer engineers built/constructed/established/set up TCP/IP which operated barely on several computers. At that time, no one knew that TCP/IP(Internet) brought about the era of information for the human race.（1969年物理学家和计算机工程师建立了TCP/IP协议，协议只运行在几个机子上。那时候没人知道TCP/IP(Internet)给人类带来了信息时代。）这句也可以用create、develop，但是不要用propose或present（请思考为什么）。

In their scheme, they built/constructed/established/set up a verification equation(protocol/algorithm) to determine whether a token is legitimate.（在他们的方案中，他们建立了一个验证方程(协议/算法)来检查令牌是否合法。）

三、这几个词用被动语态当然是可以的，但是不建议使用被动态，因为指出建立者、构造者是向他们致敬。有些情况用被动态模糊行为主体是可以的，但这里不合适。
