Lesson36 Across the Channel /ˈtʃæn.əl/

Debbie Hart is going to swim across the English Channel tomorrow. She is going to set out from the French coast at five o'clock in the morning. Debbie is only eleven years old and she hopes to set up a new world record. She is a strong swimmer and many people feel that she is sure to succeed /səkˈsiːd/ . Debbie's father will set out with her in a small boat. Mr. Hart has trained his daughter /ˈdɔː.tər/for years. Tomorrow he will be watching her anxiously /ˈæŋk.ʃəs/as she swims the long distance /ˈdɪs.təns/to England. Debbie intends to take short rests every two hours. She will have something to drink /drɪŋk/but she will not eat any solid/ˈsɒl.ɪd/ food. Most of Debbie's school friends will be waiting for her on the English coast. Among them will be Debbie's mother, who swam the Channel herself when she was a girl.

发音方法

现在来看看我们应该如何正确的发出/ɪə/这个音。

1）学习该音发音方法请先学习/ɪ/和/ə/这两个单元音。

2）首先短发/ɪ/的音，嘴唇扁平，嘴不要张得太大。

3）然后很快的滑向/ə/音，发音过程中口型始终是半开的。

注意：/ɪə/是个"集中双元音"，发音时口型由小到大，从合到开。前一个成分要短一些，模糊一点，而后一个成分要长一些，清晰一点。英式音标中/ə/要扁平，没有卷舌音。美式音标/r/要卷舌。
