1、Product Introduction
The ED8000 locator can support two working modes: analog mode (no ID) and digital mode. In the analog mode, the ED8000 can detect all electronic markers produced according to the standard frequency (Gas 83 / 87khz, Telecom 101.4khz, Sanitary 121.6khz, Water 145.7khz, Power 169.8khz, General 66.35/133.3khz, TV 77khz). In the digital mode, ED8000 can detect the ID marker manufactured and it has an optional Android App and cloud storage to manage the marking information, so as to realize the visual management of underground pipelines。
2 、Preparation For Locating
2.1、Startup Initialization
When the locator is powered on or frequency switching is performed, the working frequency will be calibrated automatically. At this time, the screen will prompt "Initializing...". In order to reduce the impact of ground electromagnetic wave reflection and marker resonance on the working frequency calibration, the distance between the bottom of the locator antenna and the ground should be>20cm during initialization, and the distance between the nearest marker around should be>50cm.
2.2、Check the battery level
Low power will lead to inaccurate measurement results or abnormal operation of the locator. Judge whether the battery is sufficient through the power display. If the battery is insufficient, replace the battery in time.
The special lithium battery shall be used for power supply. The power supply voltage is 14.8V~16.8V. The battery will fluctuate within a few minutes before it runs out of power. At this time, the power display and measurement results will also fluctuate. If there is no marker around, it can be judged that the battery is running out of power. The special charger with 16.8V lithium battery shall be used to charge the lithium battery with a charging current of 1A.
2.3、Select frequency(Multi frequency version)
Set the frequency when using the locator for the first time. Press the frequency selection button to select the frequency ‘Gas, Tel, San, Wtr, Pwr, GP, CTV’. If the selected frequency does not correspond to the frequency of the marker, the locator will not be able to detect the markers
Press the ‘Freq’ button to enter the frequency selection interface:
Move the cursor and press ‘OK’ to confirm the selected frequency. Note: whether the selected frequency is true and effective depends on the sales contract.
2.4、Select RFID Mode
Press the RFID button to select the RFID working mode ‘Off, Auto, On’. The three modes are described as follows:
Off:The locator only detects the electromagnetic induction signal of underground marker without RFID decoding. Its response speed is fast and is compatible with underground markers manufactured by different manufacturers;
Auto : In default working state , The locator only detects the electromagnetic induction signal of underground marker without RFID decoding. RFID decoding is performed only when the ‘depth’ button is pressed.
On:RFID real-time decoding, only when the ID marker is found and decoded correctly, the prompt tone and signal strength information will be sent out. Its response speed is slightly slower, but the advantage is that it can completely shield the influence of the interference signal. If there is prompt information(sound and DB), it can confirm the discovery of the marker.
2.5、Select Marker Type
Press the ‘Type’ button to enter the marker type selection interface
Move the cursor and press ‘OK’ to confirm the selected frequency. Note: whether the selected frequency is true and effective depends on the sales contract. If the type of marker to be detected is known, you can press the ‘type’ button to select the corresponding marker type: ‘Mid’(middle range marker) , ‘Mid+’(middle range plus marker), ‘Full’(full range marker), ‘Near’(nail marker), ‘Ball’ (ball marker)。
If you don't know the marker type to be detected, you can select the marker type as:‘Auto’
When the marker type is ‘Auto’, the locator needs to raise 15cm for secondary measurement when measuring the distance of Non ID marker, and the error of secondary measurement will be greater than that of primary measurement when the marker type is clear。
2.6、Gain Adjust
During the detection process, the intensity information of the measurement signal can be adjusted by soft gain according to factors such as the intensity of the interference signal in the detection area and the estimated buried depth of the electronic marker, so as to obtain the best measurement experience
The gain adjustment has a total of 19 gears, from -9 to +9, and the default gain is ‘0’, that is, it is neither enhanced nor attenuated. Use the ‘gain adjust’ button to adjust the gain. The up arrow increases the gain, and the down arrow decreases the gain. The locator is set to emit a prompt tone when the measured signal strength is 36dB. If the background noise in the measured area is strong (the signal is detected when there is no marker around, and the signal jumps up and down obviously), the invalid prompt tone can be reduced by reducing the gain. Normally, places with dense buildings and more AC motor equipment, such as industrial parks, commercial blocks, etc., have strong background noise, while the backgroundnoise in the wilderness is small.
For the area where the estimated buried depth of the pipeline is relatively deep, if the background noise is weak, the prompt tone can be enhanced by increasing the gain. For example, when the actual buried depth of ED2000 is ≥ 2m, or the actual buried depth of yz1800 is ≥ 1.8m,or the actual buried depth of the nail label is ≥ 0.8m, the original signal strength obtained by the locator is about 30dB.
Although the signal strength changes due to the finding of the marker, the prompt tone will not be emitted, at this time, you can increase the gain to amplify the signal strength above 36dB, and then you can hear the prompt tone
