Macro patience, micro speed

At a macro, we’re super impatient but at a micro, we are so patient, wasting our days worrying about years. I’ve been 28 years old and have achieved almost nothing in the career and I would become more anxious under peer pressure. “Oh my god, I’m approaching 30 years old but have nothing ……” Such anxiety will condemn me a lower state of mind which will cause a vicious spiral if such anxiety isn’t eliminated.

When talking about our future, we’re so impatient and want to make more money and get a higher esteem suddenly. But what do we do every day? We play games and are immersed into phones hours and hours while complaining our shabby situation. We’re so tolerant about our everyday behaviors but so picky about our future.

One article which described Leijun’s being always hardworking spread online recently. Leijun is always straining every nerve to be the best. He still works about 16 hours every single day even he has been on the list of the richest men in China. Rome was not built in a day. Building something meaningful like a relationship, a skill or a business, it takes 10, 20, 30 years. We should be fast with what we do every day and be patient with what we want to achieve in life. As for me, I work slowly every day but in the macro, I want my career to be huge the next day.

We’re so worried because we’re focusing so much on our current situation. We might fall behind our peers but where we stand now is not the decisive factor. In the long term, our growth rate decides all. In this respect, we wouldn’t be so anxious now.

Gary Vaynerchuk once said “I’m not worried about my years, because I’m squeezing the fuck out of my seconds, let alone my days. ”
