OpenFiler Deployment [01]: How to install Openfiler

In this case we install Openfiler in VMware workstation 7 for test purpose, just keep in mind that we should choose 'Use bridged networking' when we configure Network Type, otherwise the host will have connection problem with the VM.

 

After we finished the VM's configuration, input the OpenFiler's ISO and start the VM.

Start to install, press 'enter' when this screen shows up:

 

Choose 'Automatically partition' at this screen. you can also manually set the disk partition if you familiar with Unix's disk partition :-)

 

We use a new virtual hard disk, so we choose 'Remove all partitions on this system' to make a clean partition.

 

When configure network devices, Strongly NOT recommends to use DCHP unless your router could be configure to use static DHCP. click 'Edit' to set the IP address for this VM.

 

Unselect 'Configure using DHCP', input the IP address and netmask, then click 'OK'

 

Input other network parameter and click next.

 

When meet this screen, input a password for administration.

 

Click next to install, wait until the installation complete and click reboot to restart the VM.

 

Now Openfiler has been installed successfully.
