change Memory map for 256M

Hi,

I want to change memory map from default to 256M with DM814x board and EZSDK_5_05_01_04,
I use TMDXEVM8148 EVM and EZSDK_dm814x-evm_5_05_01_04.

I try to change memory map 256M as follows.

  1. update LISA registers
  ($(EZSDK_ROOT)/board-support/u-boot-<REL-TAG>/arch/arm/include/asm/arch-ti81xx/ddr_defs_ti814x.h)
  - Default Setting
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x0
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0x80640300
  - Modified(256M)
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x80440300
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0xA0440300

  2. Create U-Boot-MIN for NAND boot and U-Boot 2nd stage with ENV on NAND
   $ cd $EZSDK/board-support/u-boot*
   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm distclean
   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm ti8148_evm_min_nand
   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm u-boot.ti
   $ cp u-boot.min.nand /tftpboot

   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm distclean
   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm ti8148_evm_config_nand
   $ make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm u-boot.ti
   $ cp u-boot.bin /tftpboot

  3. Flashing NAND from U-boot 2nd stage
   TI8148_EVM# nand erase 0x0 0x20000
   TI8148_EVM# tftp 0x81000000 u-boot.min.nand
   TI8148_EVM# nandecc hw 2
   TI8148_EVM# nand write.i 0x81000000 0x0 0x20000

   TI8148_EVM# nand erase 0x20000 0x240000
   TI8148_EVM# tftp 0x81000000 u-boot.bin
   TI8148_EVM# nandecc hw 2
   TI8148_EVM# nand write.i 0x81000000 0x20000 0x240000

  4. Start with NAND boot mode
   Switch S1, S1[12:1] ==> 000010010010
   Switch SW2---->NAND ON

Boot log is as below.

Changing Memory Map 512M:
(http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZSDK_Memory_Map#Changing_Memory_Map_For_512MB_DM814x_Board)
  LISA registers settings
    #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x80540300
    #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0xA0540300
It works well.

How can I change Memory map for 256M with EZSDK DM814x?

    Hi, Margarita.
    Thanks.

    Yes, I checked the wiki ( http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZSDK_Memory_Map#Changing_Memory_Map_For_512MB_DM814x_Board ),
    and changing Memory map for 512M DM814x_board works well.

    Next, I tried to change memory map 256M, updated LISA Registers as follows.
        #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x80440300
        #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0xA0440300
    but u-boot with the setting could not work.

    Is the value of these registers wrong?
    Alternatively, is other setting necessary?

    Best regards.

    Hi Masahiro,

    Can you try with:

    #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x80440300
    #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0x90440300

    To be precise, the link is:

    Hi, Pavel.

    Thanks you for your helpful advice!

     U-boot with  LISA Registers:
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__2 0x80440300
      #define PG2_1_DMM_LISA_MAP__3 0x90440300

    works successfully!

    But some problems occur during executing load-hd-firmware.sh.

    Bus error occurs, when loading firmware using following commands,
      # firmware_loader 1 /usr/share/ti/ti-media-controller-utils/dm814x_hdvicp.xem3 start -mmap /usr/share/ti/ti-media-controller-utils/mm_dm81xxbm.bin
      # firmware_loader 2 /usr/share/ti/ti-media-controller-utils/dm814x_hdvpss.xem3 start -mmap /usr/share/ti/ti-media-controller-utils/mm_dm81xxbm.bin
    After that, lots of  notify_send_event failed happen.

    My boot command is following.
      # setenv autoload no;setenv bootargs console=ttyO0,115200n8 rootwait rw mem=145M@0x80000000 notifyk.vpssm3_sva=0x9F900000 root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.231.30:/home/targetfs ip=dhcp;setenv serverip 192.168.231.30;setenv bootfile uImage-dm814x-evm.bin;setenv bootcmd 'dhcp;setenv serverip 192.168.231.30;tftpboot;bootm';boot

    I created mm_dm81xxbm.bin with "memsegdef_dm81xxbm.c" changing values from default to :
     - "IPC_SR_VIDEO_M3_VPSS_M3"
       0x8A100000,                  /* system_addr */
       0x8A100000,                  /* slave_virtual_addr */

     - "VPSS_M3_INT_HEAP_CACHED"
       0x8A200000,                  /* system_addr */
       0x8A200000,                  /* slave_virtual_addr */

     - "VIDEO_M3_INT_HEAP_CACHED"
       0x8BD00000,                  /* system_addr */
       0x8BD00000,                  /* slave_virtual_addr */

     - "IPC_SR_FRAME_BUFFERS"
       0x99100000,                  /* system_addr */
       0x99100000,                  /* slave_virtual_addr */

    Hi, Pavel.

    Thanks.

    I tried with following bootcommand, changeing notifyk.vpssm3_sva'value from 0x9F900000 to 0xBF900000.
     # setenv bootargs console=ttyO0,115200n8 rootwait rw mem=145M@0x80000000 earlyprintk notifyk.vpssm3_sva=0xBF900000 root=/dev/nfs nfsroot=192.168.231.30:/home/targetfs_dm814x_505_enc ip=dhcp;setenv serverip 192.168.231.30;setenv bootfile uImage-dm814x-evm-505.bin;setenv bootcmd 'dhcp;setenv serverip 192.168.231.30;tftpboot;bootm';boot

    then, linux has stopped before executing load-hd-firmware.sh.

    Hi Masahiro,

    Did you try with changing IPC_SR_FRAME_BUFFERS to 0xA9100000 ? Please note that we have new section in the EZSDK memory map:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZSDK_Memory_Map#Want_to_change_memory_map_of_Firmware

    Please follow the steps from this new section, and make sure you rebuild u-boot with the configuration defined for 256M.

    Regards,

    Pavel

    I tried with bootarg changing:notifyk.vpssm3_sva=0xA9100000, but the result was the same.
    until now, I've used default firmware. Probably I should rebuild firmware, shouldn't I?

    Let me make sure two points.
    - For 256M sample memorymap, We should update xs file and rebuild media controller firmwares widh NDA signed.
    - Ther is no way to use 256M memorymap without rebuild them.
