Vocabulary

1.retrospective：回顾的；怀旧的；回顾展。The first kind is retrospective exhibition. 

2.embark：上船，上飞机；着手，从事；使上船：使从事He's embarking on a new career as a writer.

3.chiming:钟声；报时；插嘴A clock chiming reminded Cinderella of her fairy godmother's warning. 

4.porch：门廊，走廊We'd eat during the hot summer evenings on the front porch. 

5.syrupy：糖浆似的A sweet but poisonous syrupy liquid.

6.groan：呻吟Slowly, he opened his eyes. As he did so, he began to groan with pain.

7.squirm:局促不安；蠕动Mentioning religion is a sure way to make him squirm.

8.a whole constellation of：一系列的，一群的Most patients have a constellation of diseases, with few clear-cut distinctions between them.

9.brief:短暂的；简明的；向……下达简令；概要She once made a brief appearance on television.

10.sum up:总结Well, to sum up, what is the message that you are trying to get across? 

11.allot：分配The seats are allotted to the candidates who have won the most votes.

12.vex:使烦恼，使议论纷纷It vexed me to think of others gossiping behind my back.

13.plural:复数；复数的Britain is a plural society in which the secular predominates.

14.be infested with多得成灾The town used to be infested with bandits in the old days.

15.laconic:简洁的；简洁地 'At least we weren't kidnapped.' — 'I'm glad of that,' was the laconic response. 

16.ambiguous:模棱两可的This agreement is very ambiguous and open to various interpretations.

17.syntax:语法His grammar and syntax,were much better than the average.

18.punctuation:标点符号He was known for his poor grammar and punctuation.

这周一共读了四章，然而内容比起上一周增加了好多。作者举了很多例子，看的时候有些懵。书读得太少。这周总结试着用导图来做，不是很满意。抓重点的能力不够。本来想写短篇练笔，然而写了又改现在还停在第三段_(:зゝ∠)_写作真难啊。想起来小时候随心所欲不在意格式，又忍不住怀疑自己是否太过拘泥。既不够纯粹，又不够老练，大概就是这种状态吧。下周和再下周分别有一场考试，时间安排要注意了。
