Be proactive and begin with the end in mind

Hello, guys!

My sharing is sort of special this time. As you can see, it is all written in English.

To be honest, It is the first time to share an article written in English, and it is also the first time for me to write down my feeling in English after reading a book.

Haha, in the past, I wrote English compositions for handling all kinds of English tests. But I have never written my own feeling like this. So it means so much for me to try like this.

Why did I do it? Because I finished reading the English version of a book——the 7 habits of highly effective people.

You know, since the input is English, there is no doubt that you will have the impulse to output English.

Well, let's get back to business. My feelings about this book are as follows.

In the end of the last sharing, I mentioned that Cheng Jia modified his daily introspection with the 7 habits of highly effective people. Yeah, that's it.

Do you still remember the 7 habits? They are to be proactive(habit 1), to begin with the end in mind(habit 2), to put first things first(habit 3), to think win-win(habit 4), to seek first to understand, then to be understood(habit 5), to synergize(habit 6) and to sharpen the saw(habit 7).

Now let's talk about them.

The habit 1 is to be proactive.

Undoubtedly, in the course of our studying or working, sometimes we will have a sense of helplessness. Have you considered the real reason behind the problems?

We usually choose to complain, to complain others, to complain this world or society, or to complain ourselves.

But what happened after that? Nothing.

The wheels of life go on as usual.

Why?

Because we always focus on our circle of concern, which hinders us from making a move. But how will another type of person do? They will be proactive.

It is important that proactive people focus their efforts in the circle of influence. They work on the things they can do something about, while reactive people, on the other hand, focus their efforts in the circle of concern. They focus on the weakness of other people, the problems in the environment and circumstances over which they have no control. Their focus results in blaming and accusing attitudes, reactive language and increased feelings of victimization.

If that continues, proactive people's circle of influence will increase, but reactive people's circle of influence will shrink. Obviously, for proactive people it's a virtuous circle, whereas for reactive people it's a vicious circle.

Therefore, what really matters is that we make the best use of our proactivity.

In the words of Henry David Thorea, "I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor."

In order to reach the goals, your deep desire, your pursuit, your endeavor, your proactivity really make a difference.

So from now on, try to be proactive as much as possible. Actually, you are the creator of your life. You are in charge.

The habit 2 is to begin with the end in mind.

You know, in our life, we always live for something, it can be ourselves, our family, our friends, our work or our country. It means there is a most significant thing in your life. However, the fact is that, inevitably, there are some people who don't know what matters most for themselves, which results in maybe they work their figures to the bone for their work all the time, but finally they just find family is the most important one for them after losing their vital loves ones.

This kind of people is family-centered, but they are pursuing the wrong things rather than the real one.

In this case, the ability of beginning with the end in mind seems more essential. To begin with the end in mind means you need to figure out the most important one before you set off.

It's based on imagination-the ability to envision, to see the potential, to create with our minds what we cannot at present see with eyes. It's a deep contact with our basic paradigms and values and the vision of what we can become.

So you need to know the truth of what you really are inside.

Now, if you don't know, just to observe, to feel, to find, to explore and to listen the voice in the back of your mind. And after then, you will know how you manage your life.
