西方有个鬼节叫“万圣节”。

东方有个鬼节叫“中元节”。

The Hungry Ghost Festival marks the Chinese belief that ghosts are allowed to return to Earth in search of food, rest and entertainment.

Ghost Festival is one of Chinese traditional occasions, which falls on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month and is also called ‘Hungry Ghost Festival’.

鬼节是中国传统节日之一，在农历七月十五，也被称为“饥饿鬼节”。

The entire seventh month in Chinese calendar is called Ghost Month.

在中国农历的第七个月叫做“鬼月”。

It represents the connections between the living and the dead, earth and heaven, body and soul.

它代表了生者与死者、大地与天堂、身体与灵魂之间的联系。

The reason why Chinese people celebrate the Ghost Festival is to remember the dead family members and pay tribute to them.

中国人庆祝鬼节的原因是为了纪念死去的家庭成员并向他们致敬。

其实

中元节的祭祀具有双重的意义

一是阐扬怀念祖先的孝道

一是发扬推已及人、乐善好施的义举

这全是从慈悲的角度出发，很有人情味。

所以，在庆赞中元的同时，

应该跳脱鬼的角度，期勉互爱。
