3. Do not use contractions

4. Reduce your word count

AVOID: very, so, a lot, really

They are pointless and empty calories in English. Replace them, instead, with a strong word:

really happy --> elated

so scared --> terrified

AVOID: there is / there are

There are many problems that we may encounter. (8 words)

--> We may encounter many problems. (5 words)

Reduce your word count, increase the quality and the clarity of your writing.
