  《暗淡蓝点》 ，是一张1990年2月14日，由旅行者1号拍摄的著名地球照片之一，显示了地球悬浮在太阳系漆黑的背景中。

1、暗淡蓝点

  这张照片叫“暗淡蓝点”。大家有没有看到那个用圆圈标记出来的小小的圆点？一个稍微带那么一点蓝色、放大前的实际大小只有十分之一像素的小圆点。这就是之前说过要向你们展示的、从太阳系边缘看过去的地球的样子。这是人类拍摄的最有名的太空图片之一，它是迄今为止飞得最远的航天器对地球最后的回眸。

2、卡尔·萨根的感叹

  关于这张照片，卡尔·萨根在一本名叫《暗淡蓝点》的科普书里这样写道：“再看看这个点吧。它就在那里。那就是我们的家，我们的一切。在它上面，有你爱的、认识的和听说过的每一个人。历史上的每一个人，都在它上面度过了自己的一生。所有的欢乐和痛苦，所有言之凿凿的宗教、意识形态和经济思想，所有的猎人和强盗，所有的英雄和懦夫，所有文明的创造者和毁灭者，所有的皇帝和农夫，所有热恋中的情侣，所有的父母、孩子、发明者和探索者，所有的精神导师，所有的政治家，所有的超级明星，所有的最高领导人，所有的圣徒和罪人，从人类这个种族存在的第一天起——全都在这粒悬浮在太阳光中的尘埃上。”
  在浩瀚的宇宙剧场里，地球只是一个极小的舞台。想想所有那些帝王将相杀戮得血流成河，他们的辉煌与胜利，曾让他们成为光点上一个部分的转眼即逝的主宰；想想栖身于这个点上的某个角落的居民，对别的角落几乎没有区别的居民所犯的无穷无尽的残暴罪行，他们的误解何其多也，他们多么急于互相残杀，他们的仇恨何其强烈。
  我们的心情，我们的妄自尊大，我们在宇宙中拥有某种特权地位的错觉，都受到这个苍白光点的挑战。在庞大的包容一切的暗黑宇宙中，我们的行星是一个孤独的斑点。由于我们的低微地位和广阔无垠的空间，没有任何暗示，从别的什么地方会有救星来拯救我们脱离自己的处境。

3、爱因斯坦的信

  在留给五千年后的地球人的信中，爱因斯坦这样写道：“我们的时代充满了创造性的发明，这大大方便了我们的生活。我们用电能把人类从繁重的体力劳动中解放出来；我们能横渡大洋；我们学会了飞行；甚至通过电波，我们能轻松地把消息传送到世界的每一个角落。但是，商品的生产和分配却完全是无组织的，人们不得不为自己的生计焦虑地奔忙。而生活在不同国家的人们，总是过一段时间就要互相杀戮。这让每个想到将来的人，都充满忧虑和恐惧。因为与那些真正为社会做出贡献的人相比，普通大众的智力水平和道德品格都要低得多。我相信我们的后人，应当会怀着一种理所当然的优越感，来阅读上面这几行文字吧。”

4、卡尔·萨根的原文

  From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there– on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
  The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity– in all this vastness– there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
  The Earth is the only world known, so far, to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment, the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
