Researcher & Data Analyst

The Economist is looking for a researcher and data analyst, to be based in Shanghai or London. This person will have these responsibilities:

Analyse economic, financial and corporate data, which will require identifying important numbers, compiling spreadsheets and building charts

Fact-check stories, and ensure all queries from editors are addressed in a timely fashion

Support journalists in researching financial and economic topics

Develop ideas for data-driven stories for print and online

Assist in general administrative matters

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of finance and economics, experience in data analysis and visualisation and a proven ability to work independently. Fluent Chinese and strong English are required. The vetting process will be rigorous, and require performing trial tasks.
