ruffle是“弄乱”的意思；feathers是“羽毛”的意思。

To ruffle one's feathers means to cause somebody to become very angry, nervous or upset.

也就是：“激怒某人，惹怒某人”的意思，和中文里我们说，“把某人惹毛了”一个意思。

- I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I was just kidding.

- 我只是在开玩笑，不是故意要激怒你的。

下面，我们再来学个类似的表达，smooth one's ruffled feathers, it means to make somebody less angry or offended. 字面上是说：把某人弄乱的羽毛整平顺了，也就是：“平息某人的怒气，劝解某人”的意思。
